Thomas Tuchel to be sacked if Bayern Munich fail to progress in Champions League: Reports

According to reports, if Bayern Munich lose against Lazio in the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel may well lose his job. The German strategist has previously declared that, at the end of the current campaign, he will be departing the Allianz Arena.

He might lose his job quickly, though, if they are unable to get to the continental quarterfinals. Journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reportedly stated that this is a make-or-break situation for Thomas Tuchel. According to the reporter’s post on GOAL, social media:

“Tuchel will definitely be the coach against Lazio. If Bayern reach the quarterfinals, regardless of how, Tuchel should stay in charge until the end of the season. But: If Bayern exit after the 0-1 loss in the first leg, an immediate separation is likely!”

Plettenberg went on to say that Bayern Munich does not currently have a manager available to step in and lead the team in a temporary capacity at the Allianz Arena:

“The problem: is at this stage there isn’t a single top interim option internally who should take over until the end of the season.”

Additionally, he stated that Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen is already the new head coach objective for the Bavarians:

“There are currently no plans for a coach who is available now and will remain head coach beyond the season, like Zidane, to take over in case of an early Tuchel departure. The reason being, Bayern still want to sign Alonso!”

In the Bundesliga rankings, Bayern Munich is currently ten points below Bayer Leverkusen, who has taken Leverkusen to an unprecedented level of consistency this season, remaining unbeaten in all competitions.
