Manchester United plan to sell Maguire & McTominay in January

Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are allegedly targets for Manchester United in the January transfer season.

Erik ten Hag, as reported by Football Insider, plans to add a winger and a central midfielder in January. Maguire and McTominay are the two talents who are anticipated to be made accessible for purchase, although the Red Devils must raise funds to finance any moves.

Both have begun this season on the outside of the first squad at Old Trafford and are fighting for playing time under Ten Hag. Maguire, 30, has only started one of three games across tournaments, but he did contribute to his team’s one shutout.

In the meantime, McTominay, 26, has slipped in the standings since Casemiro joined the team last year. The signing of Sofyan Amrabat last summer has only raised more questions about his future. In multiple tournaments, he has appeared in three of five games, and he still has two years left on his current deal.

Both members of Manchester United were rumoured to be moving to West Ham United in the summer. The Red Devils, who valued the Scottish midfielder at over £40 million, turned down the Hammers’ £30 million proposal for McTominay, according to The Athletic.

West Ham did make a £30 million offer for Maguire, which Old Trafford did accept. The English defender made the decision to remain at Old Trafford and compete for a spot in Ten Hag’s team.

Throughout his time with Manchester United, Maguire has endured constant criticism. It has become worse over the past twelve months as a result of his mediocre performances and his fall in the Red Devils’ hierarchy.

Ten Hag suggested that the veteran defender wasn’t in his plans when he withdrew him from the club’s leadership in the summer. He has not succeeded in replacing defenders like Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, and Raphael Varane.
