According to London World, Kaoru Mitoma and Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement on a new five-year contract.
The Japanese international played for Kawasaki Frontale in the J-League before joining Brighton in the summer of 2021. He then spent time on loan at Union SG in Belgium.
In 41 games during his first season in the Premier League, Kaoru Mitoma notched 10 goals and added five assists. Within the next 24 hours, Mitoma’s new five-year deal, which would pay him almost £80,000 per week, is anticipated to be made public.
“The city has a good climate, the sea is close, so it’s a really good place to live in.” said Mitoma at the end of last season.
“The supporters cheer for us in a loud voice both home and away.
“I feel a real warmth, they are really exceptional supporters. The staff behind the scenes are good people too, I am very happy here.
“I have gained good experience trying to get used to the new environment and am looking forward to doing even better next season.”
With Mitoma completely dedicated to Roberto De Zerbi’s proposal at the American Express Community Stadium, lead agent Keisuke Sekine discussed and concluded the new arrangement.
Despite Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United keeping an eye on his status, the 26-year-old rejected down offers from clubs around Europe for an extension of his stay at Brighton.
