Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo set for several weeks on the sidelines with knee injury

Cody Gakpo, who exited the Tottenham Hotspur match over the weekend with a knee injury, is expected to miss “several weeks” of action.

After the October international break, Gakpo may return to club football, according to Dutch writer Rik Elfrink.

Cody Gakpo is anticipated to miss several weeks at Liverpool, he posted on X, previously known as Twitter. If all goes well, a few weeks.

Liverpool lost 2-1 on Saturday, and the Dutch attacker hurt himself while scoring Liverpool’s lone goal. He was replaced at halftime.

Gakpo’s injury was, according to Jurgen Klopp, his ‘greatest problem‘ following the Tottenham match, not the VAR saga involving Luis Diaz’s goal that was ruled offside.

“We got a free-kick and he got injured and he is now with a brace limping down the corridor.” Klopp said.

That’s my biggest problem, to be honest, in this moment. We lost two and maybe a third player. Really bad, really bad. So, yes, that’s something we have to deal with obviously.’

Gakpo’s injury just extends Liverpool’s increasing list of absentees, and Klopp was miffed that he had already lost a trio to injury and impending punishment.

The German responded, “Perhaps, I don’t know,” when asked if Gakpo’s injury was significant. He was braced. Even though he had just scored, he still felt the impact of that shot. It came from the earlier foul.

VAR controversy surrounded Liverpool’s loss on Saturday, involving two red cards for the opponent and an inaccurate goal call for offside.

After the game’s final whistle, the match’s “significant human error” was acknowledged by the officiating organisation PGMOL and Liverpool were then informed.
