Mike Maignan a doubt for Euro 2024 campaign due to finger injury

According to L’Équipe, Mike Maignan, 28, suffered a finger injury during AC Milan’s morning training. He will have tests done to ascertain the extent of the ailment before the summer Euros.

Due to a string of injuries, the France goalkeeper has struggled this season and has missed games for both his club and his nation. After missing the first four games of the season due to an abductor injury, his most recent setback means he will probably miss the last Milan game.

This will continue to be a worry for the French team because, in spite of his recent struggles, Maignan is still Didier Deschamps’ first pick for the starting position. Before they must decide who will be included in the squad on June 7th, they will be closely monitoring the outcomes of his tests.

Due to a muscular issue, the 28-year-old French goalkeeper has only made one appearance for the Rossoneri in their past six Serie A games. He had to be replaced by backup custodian Marco Sportiello, who filled the role admirably.

Since moving to Milan from Lille in July 2021, Maignan has remained an essential member of the team, and he has kept 15 clean sheets in 42 games this season.

The setback will only exacerbate some of the frustration around Maignan and his considerable injury history this season for a goalie. It’s also not out of the question that he has played his final game for the team given the transfer rumours about him.
