As the team continues to look for a new head coach, Bayern Munich reportedly dreams of having Pep Guardiola rejoin the team.
Guardiola is content with his current position as manager of Manchester City, having led the team to a historic Triple Crown the previous season and now hoping to win the Premier League for a record four times.
The head of Manchester City signed a new deal with the team two years ago, which would keep him in the northwest of England until 2025 at the latest. However, according to Kicker, Bayern management is eager to have Guardiola rejoin the team.
Pep Guardiola led the team for three years, from 2013 to 2016, winning the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup before departing to take the helm of City, his first English club.
Guardiola has remained in Munich ever since his departure, having previously admitted that he felt he had “failed” at Bayern after failing to win the Champions League.
The 53-year-old continues to have a flat in the German city where he once lived and occasionally travels there to have a vacation in Europe.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, stoked fan speculation about a potential reunion with Guardiola after making remarks over the weekend on the team’s hunt for a new head coach.
Pep Guardiola’s summer departure seems improbable given that the former Barcelona coach hinted he may stay at the Etihad longer after Jurgen Klopp declared he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
