Cole Palmer of Chelsea is apparently about to receive a massive pay boost that will quadruple his wage as a reward for a stellar first season at Stamford Bridge. The attacking midfielder has emerged as one of the Blues’ most impressive players during a lacklustre season.
Palmer remarkably adapted swiftly after joining from Premier League rivals Manchester City midway through the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old is one of the greatest players in Mauricio Pochettino’s young squad and has scored 13 goals in all competitions despite playing just 489 minutes of top-flight football prior to this season.
The Chelsea management has apparently taken note of Palmer’s performance and is planning to extend an attractive deal to him. The Daily Star reports that the attacking midfield player’s weekly salary will increase from £75,000 to £150,000.Palmer’s £42 million move from City now seems like a steal because of his form, even though the amount was questioned at the time.
There are also calls for the youngster to be a part of the England contingent for Euro 2024. He has already been called up to the squad for latest friendlies with Brazil and Belgium. Palmer is included in the team for the games in March thanks to his versatility and finishing touch, according to England boss Gareth Southgate. Palmer has been capped at every level since the U15s and excelled at the U21 European Championship held last summer. Securing a place on the plane to Germany in the summer would be the cherry on top of a meteoric rise for the 21 year old.
