Tottenham planning to sign Feyenoord’s striker Santiago Gimenez – reports

Central striker Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord is a target for Premier League giants Tottenham.

Before the international break, Ange Postecoglou’s team were only two points behind the top spot in the Premier League, having had a strong start to the season.

But the club’s spirits have been somewhat soured by consecutive losses to Chelsea and Wolves.

Even if it doesn’t appear like they have missed top striker Harry Kane as badly as many had anticipated, they might still look to replace him in January.

Since Kane’s departure, Richarlison has had difficulty finding the back of the goal and is currently out due to surgery.

Although Son Heung-min has lately been serving across the middle, the left side is still where he is most comfortable. Gimenez, 22, is Spurs’ favourite striker over Juve star Dusan Vlahovic, as per Caught Offside.

The Feyenoord striker has scored 15 goals in 15 games for the Dutch powerhouses so far this season, which is a higher goal-to-game ratio than Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who has scored 17 goals in 18 games across all competitions.

Gimenez is expected to cost Tottenham in the region £40 million. But Chelsea could spend big money again in January, so they have competition. Gimenez demonstrated his abilities the previous season after signing from Cruz Azul of Mexico, scoring 23 goals in 45 appearances.

In the Champions League, he is already leaving an impression, winning a brace against Lazio last month. Gimenez debuted for Mexico internationally in 2021 and has scored four goals in 22 games.

The 30-year-old former talisman for Spurs, Kane, continues to be playing brilliantly ever since joining Bayern Munich. He has scored 21 goals in 16 games, including 17 in 11 in the Bundesliga, since his record-breaking start.
