Barcelona target talented swede Alexander Isak as Robert Lewandowksi’s long term replacement – reports

Alexander Isak of Newcastle United is said to be a target for Barcelona. According to Fichajes, Xavi is a great fan of the striker and has set his sights on him as the team looks to improve its forward options.

Having Robert Lewandowski now 35 years old, they are also making long-term plans. It won’t be simple to sign Isak because he joined last summer for a club-record £63 million fee.

Although he has 12 goals in 31 games, he has had to battle Callum Wilson for the starting forward position.

On Saturday, Wilson played up forward and scored the game’s only goal as Newcastle defeated Brentford 1-0, as Isak looked on from the bench.

Isak’s contract is up in 2028, thus Barcelona is not likely to make any significant moves until the summer. And if Newcastle decides to let him go, they’ll try to obtain the same price they originally paid. For Barcelona, due to their financial complications, that may prove to be very difficult.

Also, with Newcastle building a project for the future themselves, they would definitely try their best to keep hold of the striker and not be an easy team to negotiate with.
