Erik ten Hag set to make ruthless decision as four Manchester United player faces uncertain future

It has been reported that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has made the brutal choice to offload Scott McTominay, Fred, Jadon Sancho, and Harry Maguire this summer.

In addition to pursuing Ramsus Hojlund of Atalanta and Inter Milan‘s Andre Onana, United have acquired Mason Mount from Chelsea for £60 million.

But as preseason gets underway at Carrington, Ten Hag is also eager to restructure his team and recognises those he believes to be dead weight.

In 2022–23, Maguire had a challenging campaign under Erik ten Hag’s direction because Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez had been the team’s first-choice centre-back partnership. In an effort to consolidate his team, Ten Hag is reportedly eager to transfer the England defender.

According to The Independent, Maguire has been made available for transfers, and the Red Devils value him at £50 million.

The 30-year-old has two years left on his Manchester United deal, but prospective buyers, including West Ham, think he might be available for £35 million.

Maguire was eager to compete for a spot at United, but he is now in a challenging situation after Gareth Southgate told him he must play regularly if he wants to start at Euro 2024.

His compensation could be a problem because West Ham United cannot match his present salary at United, which is roughly £200,000 per week.

It might be simpler to move the remaining three players he intends to offload. West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, and Roma are all interested in signing McTominay, who has two years left on his deal.

The 26-year-old Scotland international has 209 first-team games for the squad and 19 goals to his credit. He would likely fetch a fee of around £25 million.
