Reports: PSG may be open to Achraf Hakimi Departure

According to L’Équipe, Achraf Hakimi’s (24) recent performances have prompted internal criticism at Paris Saint-Germain, and the club would listen to considerable offers for the Moroccan international this summer.

Hakimi is now in his second season at PSG. The need to adapt to Ligue 1, as well as an unsuited tactical system under Mauricio Pocchetino last season, were cited as reasons for an underwhelming first season at the Parc des Princes. The beginning of his second season was overwhelmingly positive, but Les Parisiens haven’t seen the same player since the end of the World Cup.

His red card against FC Lorient a fortnight ago reportedly “irritated” PSG’s staff and provoked internal criticism. The former Real Madrid defender has also been mired in off-the-pitch difficulties since the turn of the year, with the divorce from his wife coinciding with an investigation into allegations of rape.

PSG have always supported Hakimi, and according to L’Équipe, that can be – at least in part – explained by the player’s proximity to talisman Kylian Mbappé. Internally, some at PSG believe that Hakimi is having a “harmful” effect on the France captain, but there is no question of criticising Hakimi, which could have knock-on effects on Mbappé.

Whilst Luís Campos, who brought in Nordi Mukiele last summer, isn’t looking to change the dynamic at right-back, should a considerable offer come in for Hakimi this summer, L’Équipe report that they won’t simply “brush it away.”
